Keep to Your Left on the Escalator !!

Am rushing to catch the MRT to work and was running up the right side of the escalator in the MRT station when I was blocked by this fellow in front of me who decided to stop advancing up the escalator.

Let’s call this person IP (Inconsiderate Person). I kept staring at IP’s back hoping that IP would just walk up the steps and at the same time silently scolding IP in my mind. I mean it’s perfectly alright if IP decided not to walk up the escalator but then he could had just stand to the left of the escalator instead and let those people who are rushing to catch their trains walk or run up on the right side of it.

Don’t you feel so irritated at times when you see people who do not want to walk up the escalator and stand on the right side of it and ‘jam’ up the whole place? Those people standing behind such IPs can only look at one another helplessly. And had you ever seen some people who were really rushing for the train trying to squeeze past such IP only to get irritated stares from the IP?

Ever tried to tell such Inconsiderate Person off for blocking your path when you were rushing to catch your train on the right side of the escalator? Would you dare to tell him/ her off that he/she is blocking other people’s way and that he/she should stand to the left instead?

Lunch @ White Dog Cafe

It’s my niece’s 1 yr old birthday and we had a celebration for her at White Dog Cafe @ Vivo City. Ordered some appetizers to quell our hunger while we waited for the rest of the guests to arrive.

We had this mixed fry seafood platter. ED told me the fried prawn and calamari tasted great. Too bad I can’t eat them as I am allergic to seafood. They really looked so delicious :)

Mixed Fry Seafood Platter

We were given a choice of either mushroom or chicken soup. I chose mushroom while ED had chicken soup as he hates mushrooms :)

The mushroom soup was rather filling as it contained lots of chopped mushrooms bits. I was feeling a bit full after finishing the whole bowl of soup.

Chicken Consomme

Mushroom Soup

For Main Course, ED had deep fried fish with buttered rice while I had Grilled Fish with Spicy Tomato Sauce and buttered rice. I liked the rice. Fragant and not too buttery.

A Dinner that is Not Worth Waiting An Hour For

Had dinner with my family at this Zi Char stall at Commonwealth. This stall only operates at night and it is located in a corner coffeeshop at Blk 118.

There were alot of people waiting for seats when we reached there at around 7pm. The waitress managed to find a table large enough to hold 9 of us. We placed our orders at the counter and asked what are the highly recommended dishes. In the end, we ordered 2 highly recommended and popular dishes – prawn paste chicken and Hei Zou (erm vaguely translated from hokkien as prawn rolls?) plus some other dishes.

We waited for an hour before dinner was served. And I was totally famished by then. The food was only so-so and I felt it wasn’t worth us waiting an hour for.

Mixed Veg Double Boiled Soup

Prawn Paste Chicken

Tofu with Seafood on Hotplate

Sliced Deer Meat on Hotplate

Hei Zou (looks like Ngor Hiang to me)

Stir Fried Kailan with Fish Slices. Personally, I find the kailan a bit too ‘old’.

The total bill for the above dishes plus 7 bowls of rice (the ladies are small eaters so 4 ladies shared 2 bowls of rice) = $74.50.

But I don’t think I would be going there again for my dinner.

Welcome to a Brand New Day

Love watching the sun rises in the horizon. Gives me a calming feeling and makes me feel so happy to be alive to be able to watch the sun rise on a brand new day.

Interesting Signboard

Found this interesting signboard while admiring the artwork on the Ubin Green House.

Interesting… so are you a considerate or an inconsiderate person??

I think at times, consciously or subconsciously, we causes changes around us. But not all changes are deemed as bad. So can the person still be considered as inconsiderate? *Shrug*

German Girl Shrine on Pulau Ubin

Other than the Goddess of Mercy Stone which attracted people to pray at the quarry on the island, there is this German Girl Shrine where people go to pray too. I din managed to visit the shrine the last time I was there. So this time round I’ve decided to visit it.

German Girl Shrine on Pulau Ubin and all the newspaper clippings that is stuck on its walls.

Shrine entrance

People had been coming here to pray with offerings of bottled perfumed water and powder.

On a closer look at the alter, there seems to be an urn behind the doll figurine. Somehow my hair seems to stand just looking at it.

I heard from my grandmother that when a person dies, he/she would turn into praying mantis and come back to visit the places he/she had been to when alive. I found this praying mantis in the shrine.

So do pay a visit to this shrine the next time you make a trip to Pulau Ubin :)

Oldest Singapore Registered Car???

Saw this very very very old car on Pulau Ubin. It reminds me of my Dad’s era. I’ve seen such car models from the old and yellowed photos in my dad’s photo albums. But I never tot tht I would still be able to see one in this era. It’s really old. Wonder if this car had been with its owner since his younger days :)
