Ritz Carlton’s Greenhouse Buffet Breakfast

Had buffet breakfast at The Greenhouse Cafe on 20 Jul. It’s part of the NDP fiesta package which we took by Ritz Carlton.
Siew Mai, Har Kow, Bake Beans and Baked Tomato with Cheese

Tomato Omelette, Ham and Cheese sausage.
The ham slices were freshly cut from the leg of ham. It’s very very tender and delicious. The ham and cheese sausage slices were very nice too. As you bite, the cheese ooze out from the sausage

I had Jap food for breakfast :)
Miso soup was very nice but a tad salty.
The cold tofu and grilled salmon were extremely tasty. I had it with soft fluffy Jap steamed rice

Cold Tofu and Grilled Salmon

Bak Kut Teh. Quite ok but not the nicest I had tasted. The You Tiao (Fried Dough Fritters) were very very crunchy

The Pastries Counter. Lots and lotsa of diff types of pastries, buns, cakes etc.

Here’s the Salad Counter. Selections were alot. I did not take any salad cos there’s simply too many things to choose from to eat. haha. And I am not used to eating raw veg in the morning

Fruit Counter. Different selections of fresh fruits. I like the cut grapefruit. Not too sour.

Here’s the Jap Food Counter. The bamboo basket holds the steamed Jap Rice.

Fresh Juices and Yogurt Section.
Jars and jars of freshly squeezed juices. There’s pineapple, watermelon, rock melon, carrot, orange, guava (this one is not freshly squeeze but from juice packs), apple, celery etc.

I mixed my own juices. Carrot + Orange Juice. Refreshing

The Breakfast Cereals and Dried Fruits Counter. See the variety of breakfast cereals

Fried Spring Roll was crisp on the outside and the inside was filled with lotsa juicy cabbage and carrot shreds.
Steamed Glutinous Rice with Mushroom and Shrimp bits. Rice was very soft and fluffy and it’s not too oily. I dug out all the shrimp bits as I am allergic to seafood.

Steamed Crystal Buns. Found the skin a tad too thick for my liking.

My Fresh Fruits Platter

The Mains buffet counter.
Char Siew pastry seems very popular with the diners. Left only a few when I went to take this picture.

Bread and Spreads Counter. Lots of different types of bread slices to choose from. I choose Walnut bread and spread nutty peanut butter on top. Very delicious.
You see the selection of bread spreads. You name it, they have it. I am spoilt for choice

My favourite part of this buffet is the handmade ice cream counter… haha… ice cream here I come
From left: Choc, Vanilla, Strawberry, Maple Walnut, Pistachio, and Saffon Sorbet

From Left: Raspberry Sorbet, Choc Ice-cream, Vanilla Ice Cream

The maple and walnut ice cream is very light and I like the crunchy walnut bits inside. Not too sweet also. For the strawberry ice cream, I can bite some strawberry bits inside.

The Dark Choc Chip in the choc ice cream is very nice

Saffon Ice Cream and Raspberry Sorbet. I dun really like the Saffon Ice Cream… hee hee

Tables are cleared for the Champagne and Wine Brunch Buffet. The food selections looks very very very sumptous. And they have a pianist, a violinist and a violaist playing while patrons enjoy their brunch and free flow of champagne and wine.
Brunch starts at 11 am

Approx $90 for 2 adults. When you check in to the hotel, they do not issue you with breakfast vouchers. You just go to the cafe and give your room number and the number of persons dining at the cafe. They will still ask you to sign the receipt as a confirmation you had dine there. If the number of pax dining there exceeds the number included as part of your hotel package, it would be charged to your account.

Awon Korean Restaurant (BBQ & Steamboat Buffet)

Edited on 2 Nov 2008

Read from someone’s posting in a forum that this restaurant had ceased operations with effect from 1 Nov 2008

—————————————————————————————————————————————

ED brought me to this korean bbq & steamboat restaurant at Excelsior hotel for our Vday dinner last Wed. Initially I tot we are eating those sort of stuff offered by Seoul Garden but ED assured me that this is different. I told him I dun wanna smell like I had been cooking in the kitchen after the end of the meal. He smiled and told me I would not. And true enough I din smell of food fumes after the meal and I totally enjoyed the dinner.

After looking through the menu, we decided to have the BBQ and Steamboat buffet.

The owner of the restaurant is a korean lady that is conversant in English. She came with a tray laid with appetister dishes. The buffet includes 6 appetitiser dishes. As I don’t eat kimchi and the preserved radish slices, I asked for them to be remove and kept the other 4 appetitiser dishes on our table. The meal comes with free flow of water.

The waiter came with the steamboat laid full of meat slices and assorted vegetables

Took a look at the buffet table.

Here’s the appetitisers

Lots of veg and mushrooms. My fav :)

Noodles and fishball.. anyone?? I found the fishcake and fishballs too bland for my liking. Did not go for second round after that.

Prawns and Pork Slices

Chicken and Beef Slices

All the meat slices are thinly cut and very well marinated. I only tried the pork and chicken slices as I don’t take beef. The pork and chicken were so tender and succulent. And they goes well with soju. Yah I tried soju for the 1st time in my life. The owner recommended the lemon soju to us. It’s really nice.

We were surprised when the soju came in a teapot. I lifted the lid of the pot and peered inside. There were freshly cut lemon slices floating in the soju inside the teapot. ED said the soju tasted like volka lemon :)

We couldn’t finish all the soju and asked if we could pack the remainder back home. The friendly waitress gladly obliged and poured the remainder soju into a bottle.

So how much did the whole meal cost. With 30% discount for UOB card holders for the buffet dinner only, the dinner cost approx $67. If we hadn’t order the soju the cost would had been lower.

Here’s the address of this restaurant

Dim Sum Ala Carte Buffet @ Tung Lok Seafood Arena

Had a dim sum lunch with my family at Tung Lok Seafood Arena yesterday.

Tried the appetizer on the table and I don’t really like it.

Air freshener to scent up the place

We did not order the ala carte lunch since my family members want to eat dim sum only. So we had the dim sum ala carte lunch buffet instead.

Shredded Chicken with Preserved Egg Congee. The congee was smooth and delicious. The you tiao complemented the congee very well.

Black Fungus Chicken with Chinese Wine

Har Zuo, Fried Dough Fritters with Sotong Paste, Chicken Feet with Bean Paste

Char Siew Rice Rolls, Deep Fried Prawn Dumpling, Deep Fried Prawn Rolls Wrapped with Beancurd Skin

Soup Dumpling

Har Kao

Siew Mai

Steamed Nila Fish (Nyoya Style)

Chillied Jellyfish, Roast Chicken, Char Siew. Loved the roast chicken and char siew. The meat was so tender and juicy

I did not eat the egg tarts but my aunty did. She said the crust was flaky and the egg tart wasn’t too sweet. She loved it.

Glutinous Rice Balls coated with Peanut powder

We also ordered Red Bean Paste and Honeydew Sago.
