The Army Museum of Singapore

Located just beside the Singapore Discovery Centre is The Army Museum of Singapore. It was set to commorate 40 years of National Service and also to showcase Singapore’s military heritage.

Here is a mock-up bunk in Pulau Tekong.

I did not know that Singapore have a hill called Peng Kang Hill (translate to English is Barbeque Hill) Interesting.

Wow.. so many flags

28 cabins up in the sky

Great… the last cabin is up. Heard that quite a number of people had reserved the cabins even before it is up and running in Mar 2008. And saw on TV that you can book the entire cabin to hold your solemnisation ceremony too. They have some special packages for such events and they would decor the entire cabin to suit the ceremony.

I snapped a couple of pics of the Singapore Flyer while travelling on the highway

Was thinking, maybe I should take a trip up on the DHL balloon and snap a couple of pics before it is taken down. Then take a trip up on the Spore Flyer to snap some pics too to compare. I think both offer different views of the Spore skyline.

Pulau Ubin Trip

The last rustic surroundings left in Spore – Pulau Ubin. Saw these cute little furry rabbits being kept by an uncle on the island.

Saw this interesting ‘advert’ put up by the uncle to ‘entice’ island visitors to buy drinks from him :)

Had dinner at this ‘restaurant’ near the jetty before taking the boat back to mainland. Though I don’t really take seafood, my friends who had them said they tasted fresh and really delicious.

Huge steamed prawns :)

Deep fried chicken with lemon sauce

Stir-fried spicy mussels

Chilli Crabs

Guan Yin Shi in Pulau Ubin?? Goddess of Mercy Stone????

Saw this sign at Palau Ubin which said Guan Yin Stone.

Out of curiousity, I followed the sign which led to an open ground where a number of people are lighting joss sticks and praying away. I was looking high and low but couldn’t find any Guan Yin Stone. Then this old uncle standing nearby enlightened me. He pointed to me in the direction of the quarry and there I saw it – an image on the stone quarry that looks like a statue of Guan Yin.

He told me that the quarry was closed for quite awhile but only recently, few months back, the image of what look like Goddess of Mercy appears.

DHL Hotair Balloon

Saw this huge giantic hotair balloon when I was shopping around Bugis area. It is operated by the same company which operated the Duck Tours. This balloon is parked at Bugis or Tan Quee Lan Street. It is also the world’s largest tethered Helium Balloon. The balloon floats up to approx 40 storeys high and you get a bird eye view of Spore from high up there.

Duration is around ten minutes. Operating hours are from 11am to 10pm
